Our GRAMMY Picks

RECORD OF THE YEAR Blank Space Taylor Swift No one had a bigger year than Swift.  The vocals, lyrics, production, and video for "Blank Space" are all top shelf. ALBUM OF THE YEAR Traveller Chris Stapleton I think that the 58th GRAMMYS are going to be the year of the Stapleton, but I wouldn't be surprised if Girl Crush upseeded him in a few categories. SONG OF THE YEAR "Girl Crush"  Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna & Liz Rose, songwriters (Little Big Town) Would love to see Massachusetts native McKenna bring this one home! BEST NEW ARTIST Sam Hunt Hunt had a meteoric rise in 2015.  I can't see this going to anyone else.  In fairness to the other nominees, I've only heard of two of them so maybe they're awesome. BEST COUNTRY SOLO PERFORMANCE Cam "Burning House" Love her, love this song, love the lyrics, love the video, love "Untamed".  Love.  Love.  Love.  BEST COUNTRY DUO/GROUP PERFOR...

Charles Kelley releases debut album, "The Driver"

They say you get by with a little help from your friends.  That’s certainly true of Charles Kelley who worked with friends and family to produce his first solo project.  Kelley dialed up some exciting collaborations for his first single and title track, “The Driver” which he wrote along with Eric Paslay and Abe Stoklasa.  For recording the harmony rich track, Kelley was thrilled to bring in the unique, raw sound of Dierks Bentely to sing along with Kelley and Paslay.  The song has earned them a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance category.   The project, which started out as a way to kill time before the next Lady Antebellum tour, is full of rich collaborations.  Legend Stevie Nicks lends her timeless voice in a fantastic rendition of Tom  Petty’s “Southern Accents”.  Kelley’s brother Josh Kelley co-wrote “Round in Circles” about two lovers that can’t quite get it right.  Miranda Lambert is featured on the sw...

Thanks to everyone that sent me in music to check out this week!  Here are a few of my favorites. Texas native Ashliegh Lisset has a brand new single, "The Call" which was co-written with Lucy Hale, Zac Maloy and Michael Daley.  The song features strong vocals and catchy lyrics like, "I finally heard the phone ring and I could see that all the plans we made are coming true, the only problem is the call, it didn’t come from you."  Check out the fun, upbeat breakup tune about finding new love below.  You can download Ashliegh's single on iTunes .  Follow Ashliegh on: Twitter Instagram Facebook A Rhode Island native, Anderson Chris just released his self-titled debut EP.  "Anderson Chris" features five tracks, including the two below. Cam, Eric Paslay, and Brad Paisley "Crush It" at Mohegan Sun!

Brad Paisley brought his "Crushin' It" tour to Mohegan Sun Arena Sunday night.  The tour currently features Cam and Eric Paslay.   Cam played several songs off her new record, Untamed  including her number 1 single, "Burning House" and new single, "Mayday".   Eric Paslay gave us some insight into his new album which will be released later this year.  The highlight of his set for me was the energetic "High Class" single as well as when he welcomed Cam back out the stage for a duet off his new album titled, "Taking My Heartbeat Higher".  Brad Paisley was one of the artists that originally sparked my interest in country music circa 2004 with love songs like "Little Moments" as well as traditional country songs like "Mud on the Tires" and the beautifully melancholic duet with Alison Krauss, "Whiskey Lullaby".  His set list on Saturday night did not disappoint as he covered both old clas...
